president obama didn't touch it much in the first term. now he says he's going to try but the big difference is the things that keep the israelis and palestinians from the bargaining table are still there. they feel good about the conversation a month or two or three, are they back at the table. >> the president's in jordan today. what's the focus there? >> reporter: syria. syria. syria. jordan normally a key u.s. ally in trying to nudge the palestinians on some issues. one of the few arab nations that has relationships with israel. but the refugee crisis coming into this country from syria dominated the discussions. king abdullah has a country with a tough economy to begin with. they've spent nearly $1 billion. they say they are approaching half a million syrian refugees and they think it will keep getting worse. the president promised about $200 million more. the united states is already giving quite a bit of money to the syrian refugee crisis but he promised to ask congress for $200 million more. most of the effort was on the refugee cr

look where obama is in d.c. if you look at sool choice there, he spent three years arguing against funding the d.c. scholarship program. >> where do you see the brightness? >> -- the lowest rate in the entire country. we can't give up on those issues. >> where do you see the brightness? you said the future looks bright. the rnc doesn't seem to think so. >> no, the republican party, all this inner discussion between different wings, this is normal. if you read michael duffy's book "the president's club" this is nothing new. this is something that has gone on since nixon and reagan and it happened in the liberal party, too. the democratic party as well. the reason it's a bright time for the republicans is because in the last three weeks, we've had a lot of victories. look at rand paul, drawing attention to the fifth amendment constitutional violations of this administration. look at the sequestration. it was supposed to be a big disaster and it hasn't been. >> you're saying things look bright. >> look at the conti

from td ameritrade. >>> high speed rail is a key component of president obama's domestic policy. four years ago, he announced to great fanfare that his administration was using $8 billion in stimulus funds as seed money to get high speed rail projects off the ground. an additional billion dollars would then be spent annually. the president even mentioned high speed rail again in his state of the union address just last month, saying it should be part -- key part of repairing america's aging infrastructure. keeping them honest, billions in federal tax dollars have been spent so far with very little to show for it. "360" has been investigating some of these projects like the billion spent in california without one shovel being put into the ground. or the tens of millions spent on high speed rail in vermont, where very few people ride trains to begin with. tonight, our investigation focuses on a project in the pacific northwest that cost a lot. you can decide if that expenditure was worth it. here's drew griffin. >> so now, for one of his last speeches in this position, the secretar

can you just imagine barack obama having to do that? anyway, it's only fair he had to do it considering fed ex actually paid for the pandas' transportation complete with an in-flight meal, tons of bamboo and 20 apple seeds. in fact, if it weren't for fed ex, canada would be totally bamboozled. 90% of a panda's diet is bamboo and it won't grow up in canada's climate so the canadians have been forced to hire fed ex to ship 700 pounds of bamboo from the memphis zoo two to three times a week for the next ten years. who knew memphis made so much bamboo. but this is really what america has become here, people. we're just a bamboo supplier. that's actually the real reason that we're telling you this story tonight. because not too long ago, it was the united states getting pandas from china and there are pandas in zoos around the country. some of them have even had babies to great fanfare. we haven't gotten a new panda in years because the cuddly bears even though they're not so nice, we don't think they're cuddly. usually when you get a panda
